Brooke enters the garden and sees Ridge looking out at the landscape. He turns and they stare into each other's eyes.


Ridge tells Brooke that she looks radiant. He thinks he knows what she is thinking but she doesn't believe so. "You are thinking, why did it take this jerk so long to appreciate me," Ridge guesses. She tells him that that isn't what is on her mind. He continues guessing. "You are wondering if I really mean it this time. Well, I do mean it. I know now what I want. I have made a decision. I want you to be my bride. Will you marry me?" he says. Brooke is stunned.


Ridge assures Brooke that he knows what he wants and tells Brooke that he wants her to be his wife. Brooke is stunned by Ridge's proposal; she says, "I have waited so long for this day - now that it is here I've got to tell you something. I don't know how or where to start." Ridge, however, won't let Brooke get a word in.


Brooke says, "Oh God - after waiting so long why this?" Ridge says, "I know you are afraid I will change my mind, but Taylor is the past Brooke." Brooke says, "You will never forget Taylor!" Ridge explains, "My dad told me the other day a word - it is destiny. He said a lot can happen in a life; you and I are destined to be together."


Brooke asks Ridge, "Are you sure you aren't destined to be with Taylor? You loved Taylor; I know she is beautiful but she belongs with Thorne." Ridge says, "You are loyal and sensitive and we are going to have a great life together. Oh, I almost forgot." He takes a ring box out of his pocket and asks, "Now just say you will marry me." Brooke says, "Yes I will!" They kiss.


THE WHOLE PROPOSAL: Ridge: My father said something to me, a word he used. I want you to think about this word because it describes us to a "T". I want you to think about this word and what it means to us. It's our word. And there is nothing, no event, no woman, no circumstance that can change the truth of what this means for us. It is destiny. Destiny! A lot can happen in a life but when you are destined to be with somebody that's who you belong with and that's who you wind up with Brooke! You and I were destined to be together, no matter what!


Brooke: Ridge, isn't there a chance that you are destined to be with Taylor and not with me?


Ridge: No Brooke, I'm as sure of that as I'm sure of my feelings for you.
Brooke: What if circumstances were different, you are only telling me this because Taylor is carrying Thorne's child.


Ridge: Yes, I was furious, and I could have killed them both.


Brooke: Don't you see Ridge, you were furious because of the way you feel about Taylor.


Ridge: It doesn't matter!


Brooke: How can you say that Ridge?


Ridge: When I look at the two of us Brooke, I can see it's so obvious with whom I belong. You and I are so compatible. We have the same interests, we have the same goals. Why are you arguing with me Brooke?


Brooke: Because you are rationalising Ridge!


Ridge: No, I'm not rationalising Brooke, I'm in love, I'm in love with YOU! And isn't that the bottom line to all this, that I love you and want you? Taylor even knows that, or she and I would have been married last January. Look! Could I make a life with Taylor? Sure. But do I belong with her? NO! You Brooke Logan, you are right out there. What I see Brooke, is an incredibly sensual, sensitive loyal woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. So stop overanalysing everything. Just trust me! We are going to make it work, we are going to have a great life. We are never going to look back and regret anything. Not even once. Dont think about it anymore, just marry me....
